Lady Jackets Win Series vs Tatum

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mineola walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Tatum Eagles with a sharp 16-1 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won 14 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Journie Wilson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Mineola let Coco Nguyen and Mahayla McMahon run wild. Nguyen fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3, while McMahon went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Nguyen has posted since back in February. Kali Chrieztberg was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Mineola hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive games.

Mineola has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tatum, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-21-1.
